Darlene

I have form letters in word and use information from an excel data sheet for merging. Lately every time I try to bring up the data base for the word document I get an error message "Word could not establish a DDE connection to mircrosoft excel to complete the task

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?RGFybGVuZQ==?=,

message "Word could not establish a DDE connection to mircrosoft excel to complete the
task.The better place for this question would be the word.mailmerge.fields newsgroup...

Which version of Word is this? Have you tried searching this error message in the
Knowledge Base on microsoft.com? There are various things that could cause it.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?RGFybGVuZQ==?=,
I have tried everything that seem applicable from the knowledge base
Then I'm afraid you're going to have to use one of the other
connection methods, such as ODBC, instead. If a DDE connection isn't
working, and you haven't turned on Tools/Options/Ignore other
applications in Excel, then it's a configuration problem with your
machine. And the only way around that I've ever found is to reformat
your hard-drive and reinstall everything.
