message board search

while setting up my Message Board I posted a number of test messages. I
subsequently deleted them from the _disc1 directory where the messages were
stored but when I do a search of the message board they still show up in the
results table but cannot be opened obviously because they have been deleted.
How do I get them to no longer show up in the search results?
