Message not deleting from draft folder

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I have a message that has already been sent, but for some reason, it appears in my draft folder. I've tried numerous times to delete it, I've tried moving it to my deleted items folder, I've quit the application, I've restarted my computer. But, the message still shows in my draft folder. Any suggestions?

This could be a sign of database corruption. Try rebuilding your database.

How to rebuild:

Make a duplicate in the Finder first as additional backup. A rebuild does
make a duplicate, but sometimes in the process the original and backup get
merged resulting in total disaster. It's rare but it happens.
