Message of Program trying to access address book

I'm getting frequent messages of the following nature on my Outlook. It
repeatedly appears, and then Outlook freezes and I have shut it down.

"A program is trying to access your Address Book. A program is trying to
access your Address Book or contacts. Viruses can spread by sending copies of
e-mail messages to people listed in your Address Book. You must allow or deny
access to your Address Book before this program can continue."

I'm not sure if it's a virus or some glitch that can be repaired.

Can anyone help?
