After furious head scratching, Ben M. Schorr - MVP asked:
| Aloha Gates,
|
| It has never worked very well to be honest. There are a LOT of
ways
| that
| it can fail for example:
|
| 1. If the original message has been marked as read (either by user
or
| by
| rule)
| 2. If the original message has been moved to a subfolder (by user
or
| rule)
| 3. If the recipient's mail server forces all inbound mail into
| plain-text format.
| 4. If the recipient is using a mail client that doesn't support
| recall messages (i.e. just about anything other than Outlook)
| 5. If it's a day ending in the letter "y". ;-)
|
| More often than not message recall fails in my experience. And
it's
| been
| that way since Outlook 97.

|| Aloha Ben,
||
|| Perhaps it worked better in previous versions? Is this the
correct
|| way it's supposed to work? The user receives a recall message and
if
|| they open it the original is removed?
||
|| Thanks,
||
|| Jobe
|| ||| Aloha Gates,
|||
||| Yes. Message recall only works under a very specific set of
||| circumstances which is to say that it usually doesn't work in my
||| experience.

|||| I'm running Outlook 2003 SP2 and Exchange 2003 SP2. Can't seem
to
|||| get message recalls to work. If the user opens the recall first
it
|||| removes it. I thought it was supposed to be automatic. Any one
|||| having this problem or seen this before?
||||
|||| Thanks,
