Message sorting in newsgroups

This may be a really stupid question, and sorry if this is being answered on
a per-week base. I'm used to Outlook Express on Windows for reading
newsgroups, and until now I use a (fixed) version of OE for that. Now, with
my new Apple G5 1.8DP and Office:mac 2004, I also want to use Entourage for
Newsgroups. I already configured by mail and news access, and everything
works fine basically.

The problem I have is the way Entourage lists newsgroup postings. In OE I
was able to set the posting list so that the newest posting is on top, all
threads are automatically expanded, and all messages are grouped by thread.
Somthing like that:

What is this 11:20
Re: what is this 11:22
Re: what is this 11:23
Why not 9:30
Re: why not 11:18
Re: why not 12:03
....

Maybe I'm just too stupid, but I can't find a way in Entourage to display
the posting list like OE. Especially that OE expands threads automatically
is something I really appreciate. Is there a way to set up Entourage the
same?

This is called 'thread by reference' and must be one of the most commonly
requested features for mail & news listings.

Unfortunately, Entourage doesn't (yet) support this feature. Please add your
vote to those that want it!

You can send feedback to the developers on this issue. Use the last menu
item under the 'Help' menu - "Send Feedback on Entourage". This message will
go directly to the developers. The more people that request this feature the
more likely it is to be implemented.

good as OE...

What do You think, is there any chance that this might be included in an
update for Entourage 2004, or should I expect to need to upgrade to the next
release whenever it will be available?

My guess is that such a feature would require a considerable programming and
testing effort and so would be unlikely to be included in anything other
than a major release.

Given design, coding, testing and QA timescales, I would be prepared to bet
that the major feature list for the next release is already pretty fixed. MS
are very tight lipped about what is to be included in future releases, so
anyone who really knew would be unable to comment.

You should try thunderbird. I is just as good as OE and has the features you
are looking for. I have been using for awhile. I do most everything else in
Entourage, but I save the newsgroup stuff for Thunderbird.
