Message stuck in outbox

I tried to send an email with some large photos. The
message has not left the outbox and if i try to open it a
message appears, stating: "Can't open this item. Outlook
has already begun transmitting this message." This has
remained in the outbox for over a week now. Any
suggestions?

create a new .pst file and make it the default. Close and reopen Outlook.
Delete the message from the Outbox. Make the old .pst the default. Close
and reopen Outlook and then close the new .pst file.
