message w/large attachment does not leave the outbox

Using my g-mail account on Outlook 2003, a message with a 7.5MB PDF
attachment stays in my outbox and is sent multiple times. I have reset the
timeout on the account to max (10 min).
I can send this message direct from g-mail but from Outlook 2003 it sends
but stays in the outbox.
I have no problem sending messages with smaller attachments the same way
from Outlook 2003.
I also deactivated my McAfee anti-virus for outgoing messages. hat did not
help

Most ISPs will limit the size to a smaller number...

I checked and Gmail limits size of attachment to 10MB. Besides, I can send
the attachment, same message, directly through g-mail with no problem, but
not using outlook??????
