Message Window Opens in Background Behind Main Outlook Window

Hello,

I opened a question on this about a week ago but think when I tried to
respond I may have clicked on the wrong link as I no longer see the message
and the one response to my query.

I have been working on a new computer with Vista and Office 2007. When I
open Outlook, the main window appears and everything looks okay. However,
when I double click on my messages they are opening behind and not in front
of the main Outlook Window. I can see the open message on my task bar, but I
cannot even click on that to get to the message. I have to minimize the main
window in order to read mail. Sometimes it will open and I can click on one
or two messages and they will pop up in front (usually happens right after I
have booted up), after that they are all sent back, and I have to find them.
One expert replied and I reivewed what they had sent but did not see my
problem listed.

My apologies to that person for not getting the response back to you. When
I tried both links in the response, neither opened my browser; I tried
pasting the link to a browser but same response (blank page and Done appears
in the task bar). I am connect to the Internet when this occurs (checked to
be sure). I have to get back into the Discussion Group and read through to
find my message and the responses.

My new computer is not "endearing" itself to me with these little problems
that keep appearing!

Thank you for any feedback you can share.

This is probably a long-shot, but do you by chance have an anti-virus
program running on this machine that includes a tie-in to Outlook - some
sort of Spam-checker or the like?

Start Outlook in safe mode and see if it changes the behavior.

Thank you Brian and Patrick for your responses.

I have Symantec AntiVirus on this work computer, which my company uses. I
did try opening in Safe Mode and was able to open files repeatedly and they
stayed in front of my main Window. I then had to go back to regular mode so I
could attach files.

I have checked with my colleagues who are working on new PCs with Vista and
Office 2007 apps and they are not expriencing this problem.

Is it possible there is a problem with my Outlook?

Thank you for your help.

Personally, I was leaning more towards the anti-virus software and Outlook.
If you (or your IT Support folks) disable the e-mail scanning option(s) in
Symantec A/V on your computer, does it change the behavior? It may be worth
it to uninstall and reinstall the Symantec client. I've also heard of a case
where creating a new Outlook profile solves the issue. Do you have an IT
support person who can assist with this?

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for your response. I will check with my IT people and see what
they can do. I now have some options to pursue with them.

I will follow-up with my results.

Hello Patrick,

I wanted to follow-up on my query and thank everyone for their assistance.
I did contact my IT department and they provided a link for an executable
file they have (via a chat session). I ran it and it cleared out my
registry. Outlook is back to normal and my messages are opening in front of
my main Outlook window.

Thank you again for your advice and suggestions.

Is there anyway that you can get from them where they got the excecutable? I have been looking for this for the past few days and have had no luck.

Thanks
