Messages held in outbox & delayed in receiving

My email are being held in my outbox instead of being sent immediately,
internal ones go as soon a I click on the outbox, but external emails are
held for sometimes 15 mins before being sent.

Also, received messages are delayed in coming in, and I have to click
through the folders which seems to "force" them through and I get a batch of
them together.

My PC is networked, and some of the other PC's have the same problem. Mine
used to be OK with no problems until this week it has started with the
delays. I don't think any setting have been changed.

Any suggestions would be very gratefully received!

do you have two accounts - one exchange and one SMTP? it sounds like a nat
router issue with the exchange account.
