messages invissible in outbox

I fear my computer was recently hacked into.

when I start sending/receiving emails through outlook 2007 I notice it
mentioning "sending 1 out of 5 messages" but there were no messages in my
outbox.
Also my own messages are not vissible in the outbox, but are send OK,
although there are always 5 more messages send then I have written, but these
do not show in sent items.
I cannot find any messages whatever i try but I fear these are hidden
messages containing personal information or something.

Can someone tell me how to cure the problem?
