Messages not visible in inbox or subfolders

I am attempting to use Entourage 2008 with my work's exchange server. It has downloaded the subfolders from my account and when checking for mail indicates that it is updating each of them in turn. However, the inbox and all subfolders show "There are no messages in this folder" when selected for viewing the messages. I use outlook when at work and know that the inbox and folders do in fact contain messages.

If you go to folder properties / storage, it shows the folder size. All of the folders have a size that would indicate that they contain messages.
The calendar events have updated from my work calendar and I am able to open them with no issues. It will load up the Public folders from my work exchange server, but they too all show that they contain no messages.
I am unable to access the global address book from my work's exchange server.
I have checked with our IT department and have the correct server settings applied. I have also tried clearing the cache for the inbox and each folder and also rebuilding the message lists.

Does anyone have a suggestion that may allow me to view my messages?

If clearing the cache for your Inbox doesn't work then you probably have
a corrupt message in your Inbox that Entourage can't download. This is
preventing other messages from downloading.

I suggest you look for unusual messages such as spam messages or
messages with large attachments. Also, Asian characters in the subject
line have been known to cause this behavior.

This will not be a straight-forward and simple search. From Outlook, you
can try creating mail folders outside of the Inbox and moving messages
into them until they begin appearing in Entourage.

Public folders will not immediately display messages. These too must
sync. You can keep them synced by dragging the folders into your
Subscribed Public Folders folder. Again, these will take time to sync
and they will only display mail messages, calendars and contacts.
Documents are not supported.

Have a look at these instructions for connecting Entourage 2004 to
Exchange. They are just as valid for Entourage 2008.

Also have a look at my blog post for optimizing your connection to Exchange:

Hope this helps!
