Messages sit in outbox

(Version info: Entourage 11.4.0; OS X 10.5.2)

I'm a long time Entourage user, and this behavior is new. When I
choose "Send Message Now" or use the keyboard equivalent, the message
goes to my outbox, but sits there until I click "Send and Receive."

This is an Exchange account.

Suggestions?

TIA

Occasionally, I get a bad message and it just sits in the outbox. I open
it, copy the contents into a new message. Delete the old one and off it
goes.

Strange. While you're message is trying to send do you notice any
synchronization activity? If so, that could be delaying the sending.

Have a look at this recent blog post for ways to optimize Entourage when
used with Exchange:

"Optimize Entourage to better work with Exchange"

Hope this helps!

Thanks to both Bill and Diane.

I'm still stuck, though. I don't think it is a bad message, because it
seems to be happening with every message, and I don't think it is a
delay because of synchronization, because the messages will sit in the
outbox for hours.

Any other ideas? One possible hint: I recently changed my Exchange
password. Entourage seems to know and remember, it though, because it
allows me to read and send (if I click on "send and receive").

Thanks.
