Messages stay in Outbox after installing Unified Messaging

We use Outlook XP and Exchange Server 2000. Out of 40 odd users, we have a
few where after installing UM, the emails sit in the Outbox and never send.
Tried everything from repairing windows, reinstalling Outlook, updates,
deleting profile, turning off firewall so any other suggestions would be
welcome. Thank you.
