Messages Stuck in Outbox

G

George Schneider

I'm having an issue with a user sending messages. Everything is getting
stuck in the outbox and are never sent.

I tried connecting to the users box and resending them same result. The
messages never leave the outbox and are not sent.

Please provide more details:

Are there any send/receive error messages and/or numbers?
Do all emails get stuck in the Outbox or just selected ones?
What version of Outlook?
What type of email account (POP3, Exchange)?
Does the user have a PST? If they do, what size is it?
Has the Application Event Viewer been checked for Office-related errors? If
there are any, please post the event ID and source.
Is antivrus scanning incoming/outgoing mail?
Are there any COMs, Add Ins, synch software, fax software, desktop search
tools or toolbars installed?

Hi George,

Please check the following points to see if it is helpful.

#1 click File > Work Offline, make sure that this option is not checked.

#2 This issue may be caused there is a big email stuck in Outbox folder. Please disconnect the network connection. And then go to the
Outbox folder, delete all items in the folder.

Conenct to the network. Create a new test email message and send it out. What is the result?

Note: When you attach files to the email message, make sure that the file is not too large to be sent out.

If it doesn't work, go to next step.

#3 create a new outlook profile
========
1. Quit Outlook. Go to Start menu > Control Panel > Mail, click Show Profiles¡
2. Select the "Prompt for a profile to be used" check box. Click Add¡
3. Type the profile name as "new outlook profile", click Ok.
4. Select Add a new e-mail account, click Next. Follow the wizard to configure your account in the new profile
5. After you restart Outlook, if the problem is resolved, please import the original data into your new profile.

Test if you can send emails in the new profile. If it works fine, move data from the original profile to the new profile. And keep using the
new outlook profile.
==============
Click File menu > Open > Outlook Data File > choose the pst file which contains the data in original profile to open it in the new profile.
Thus, there should be a new Personal Folders in the Outlook Folder List.

By default, the pst file for original Outlook profile is located in the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your-login-name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

If you performed an update to Outlook 2003 or 2007 in the past week, you will
see many posts with a problem of 'can receive email but can't send'. I did a
Restore Point from before my upgrade and my email(2007) is now working
correctly. There's a bug in the last auto update from Microsoft for 2007 and
I think 2003.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your information.

I am unable to reproduce the issue on the computer with Outlook 2003/2007, the lastest updates installed. Before you did the restore
point, have you checked the email account setting, the emails in the outbox folder?

I did a merge through a 3rd party CRM software. The group I sent an email to
is now stuck in the outbox ... How do I make them go? This video illustrates
the problem and should answer any questions you might have.

Ciao, THANKS
Darrell

Hi Ken:

Nobody did on this post but VanguardLH did in the post "emails stuck in
outbox but if I.."

His response makes sense and basically says that this is the 3rd party
(maximizer) issue not outlook. If you have time to read his response and
agree/disagree then your help is greatly appreciated.

Ciao
Darrell
