Messenger prompt after 10.1.5 Update

I downloaded Office 10.1.5 and now every time my desktop opens I get
an immediate window prompting me to activate Messenger. I can't get
into Messenger Preferences without activating Messenger, which I don't
want to do. How do I get rid of the prompt window permanently?

Hi

Look in the Log-in items (system preferences) and see if there's a messenger
item there. You should be able to remove it from the list.

Thanks Jim, I'm hoping that does it. Isn't a crime that they sell
these machines to folks who don't have a clue? Like, me. Thanks.
