messgaes download but do not display in inbox

Outlook is downloading messages but theya re not displaying in the inbox.
Has anyone had this experience and if so how was it fixed. The pst file is
about 250mb

Check your View's and any rules

Version of Outlook?
If you switch folders and come back, do they show up?
If you reset the view, do you see them? (Right click on the row of field
names and choose Customize, then Reset)
Are you using Rules to move them?
Can you find them using Search folders or Advanced Find?
