Dear Readers:
I've been sent a PowerPoint file created on a PC, containing 5 jpeg
photos, each on one slide. When I downloaded this to my 15" Powerbook,
running 10.3.9 and Office 2004, and opened it, I got 5 very rapid
messages about metafiles, and the opened file contained 5 blank slides.
When I downloaded this to my desktop, a G4/450, running 10.2.8 and
Office X, the "converting metafile" messages appeared slide by slide,
and all the photos came through fine.
(I then saved this successfully-opened file from Office X, copied it to
the Powerbook, and it opened fine there.)
Why can PowerPoint in Office X handle the file, but can't in Office
2004? Is there anything I can do to be able to open such files directly
on my laptop, without having to go via the desktop?
