Method of quickly entering dates in cells

A

Annie

A cell which is formatted dd/mm/yy is picked up and
subsequently used in formulae. Is there a way of entering
a date in a cell without including the slash separators?

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Many thanks in advance, Annie

You'll have to enter the slashes, or another recognised
date format.
Excel will take date entry from the keyboard in any built-
in format and diplay it in whatever format you have in the
cell:
format a cell date, mm/dd/yy
type in july 5, 1998 [a recognised excel format]
7/5/98 is displayed
for entry, unfortunately, you are restricted to the built
in formats... but.. is it that hard to reach that pinky
1.5 inches to the right to type a slash?
