Method/Property not Availabe | License has Expired

This client is using software that automates Word to merge legal documents.
He is using Word 2003 on Windows XP.

Everything worked fine until a week or so ago--now he gets error messages
when trying to merge or even open a document in the application. The error
message is "Error 4605: The AutoFormatAsYouTypeApplyBorders method or
property is not available because the license to use this application has
expired."

If he goes in to Word directly, Word seems to work fine. I had him click on
the "Activate ..." item in the help menu and it tells him the it is already
activated. He even uninstalled/reinstalled Word and it didn't help. He's
not using Norton A/V, to the Norton Office Plugin isn't the problem.

What am I missing? Is there something else I need to check to verify that
his copy if Word is valid, etc.

It suggests that it is the third party software that has an expired licence.
It works in Word directly but not through the third party software...

Perhaps it has a certificate (VeriSign or similar) that has expired?
