Methods for Accounting for Less Than Full Time Participation Resou

One method is to (in the resource sheet) show an individual resource as less
than 100%. A student recently suggested that we simply limit their workday
on the calendar to (for example) less than a full work day, i.e. 4 hours
(instead of 8) ... Is that the same as saying the resource is allocated 50%?

Are there other implications of this approach. I frankly had not considered
it.

Hi,

There are differences, but they are minor.
Persdonally I prefer to always use 100% and to adapt the calendar, but I
have the feeling therewith I am part of a minority.
To show a minor difference:
Suppose a task with 1 day of work, resource loaded at maximum.
Case 1
Resource has a work calendar of 8-12 only, 100%
If the task starts this morning it is finished tomorrow at noon.
Case 2
Resource works 8-12 and 13-17,@ 50%
If the task starts this morning it is finished tomorrow evening.

Why I prefer the 100%? 50% is translated by Project into 30 secs of work
every minute and that in my view is too weird.
