metric picture resizing?

A

Andy Kaiser

Hello,

In MS Word, you can go to Tools->Options->General tab,
and change "Measurement Units" to have all measurements
work with inches, centimeters, pixels, etc.

I need this same functionality in Excel. This seems like
a common enough requirement, but I can't find anything
about Excel's support for metric measurements in picture
resizing.

Is this capability available in Excel or not?

Thanks,

Andy Kaiser

Would using the function convert() suit your purpose? One method may b
to use convert() on all your data, then copy/paste special - values t
overwrite your old data

Excel does not have this capability. Word is more graphics oriented.

Any object that is measured in inches or centimeters.....Text Box, Drawing
Object, List Box from the Forms Toolbar for instance or Comment Box size,
would be determined by the measurement system set in your Windows Regional
Settings.

Row heights are measured in points. There are 72 points to an inch.

The number that appears in the Standard column width box is the average number
of digits 0-9 of the standard font that fit in a cell.

No relationship between the two.

If you want to use VBA to set height and width in mm....which you could
convert to inches.

Ole Erlandson has code for setting row and column dimensions. Objects would
be a whole 'nother game.

Perhaps. I'll have to try a few samples.

The actual purpose for this is to have metric picture
resizing on imported pictures within Excel. If I'm
understanding you correctly, you're talking about using
convert() with data, but not picture size properties?
