MHT Files with database connectivity

Does anyone have any experience with MHT (web archive) files
authenicating against a SQL Server or Sybase database via ODBC
connection.

We are attempting to have an MHT file in MS Excel authenicate to a
Sybase database via the MS 2003 Web Components but receive the
following error below:

---
The query could not be processed:
o Data provider could not be initialized.
o [SYBASE][ODBC Sybase driver][Sybase]ct_connect(): protocol specific
layer: external error: The attempt to connect to the server failed.
o [SYBASE][ODBC Sybase driver][Sybase]Login failed.
---

Note: We have created the ODBC entry and it works successfully within
the Excel file prior to being published to the web in MHT format.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

why would you use MHT format?

use Office Web Components and plain -old HTML or even better, ASP

you understand that doing this thru the OWC means that you still must setup
the sybase connection on each client--

it just seems like you should be using sybase with a connection to SQL
Server; and then tunnel thru SQL.

this would probably simplify things.. I'm not positive that OWC supports
other' vendors OLE db connections.
