Micosoft Office for 2004 version 11.2.6 causes Internet Explorer not to work

Just updated to version 11.2.6 and now my Internet Explorer ver 5.2 no
longer starts up. Since MS no longers supports IE and you can't
uninstall ver 11.2.6, I wouldn't update at the moment.

Weird... I did the update as well and IE still works just like before...

Hi Molly,

After you installed the update did you use Disk Utility to repair
permissions? If not, give it a try.

Drag /Users/<Your User>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist
and com.microsoft.explorer.plist to the Desktop. Re-launch Internet
Explorer and see if it crashes. If it crashes, move the Internet
Preferences files back. If it works properly, you can trash the Internet
Preferences files.

Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2+:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:

I experienced the same behavior with IE 5.2 after updating to 11.2.6.
I corrected it by going to user/library/preferences/explorer/temporary
files and trashing all of the temporary files present. IE 5.2 worked
fine after that. I hope the fix is as easy for you.

The Office updates have absolutely nothing to do with, and no effect on,
Internet Explorer. 11.2.6 updates only two files inside Office, that's all.
I suggest you reboot your computer, then try again.
