Microsofot Outlook 2003 - unable to delete or move emails

T

Tony AAA

Hi

I have a problem with Outlook, in that I am not receiving emails because I
believe there are too many emails in Outlook, not in the Inbox (which has
around 700 - I've had more in the past and have still been able to receive
emails), but the total size of all the emails (over 4GB)

I've archived a lot, but am still not receiving emails. In addition, Outlook
won't let me deal with individual emails (as in deleting or moving them) and
comes up with the message "The file could not be accessed". This has happened
before and I was able to get around it by eventually deleting 1 email, then 2
and so on incrementally.

Regards
Tony

Locate and run scanpst.exe, the repair tool on your data file, with Outlook
closed. Run it several times if it reports errors.
If you dont know the name or path of your data file, within Outlook,
properties of Personal Folders will show it

Hi, DL

Thanks for your reply. I've located scanpst.exe and located what seems to be
the path for Personal Folders, but scanpst.exe says the file can't be
recovered. I don't really know where to go from here.

If you open Outlook and select File->Data File Management, what format do
you show for your personal folders? Personal Folders or Personal Folders
97-2002?

Try scanpst.exe several times
Also run a HD check with a bootable utility available from your HD
manufacturers web site.
If you dont know the make of your HD, Seatools from Seagate generally works.
Or it maybe that your PC maker installed some checking Tools
