| Hi customer,
|
| Try the following suggestions to see if it works.
|
| #1 Completely uninstall/reinstall Office 2003 to see if it works
| =================
| The issue may be caused that some registry keys for Office 2003 were
| corrupted and it cannot fixed by normal uninstall/reinstall process for
| Office 2003. Let's use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to
| remove/reinstall Office 2003 to see if it works.
|
| 1. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
|
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D
| 5E1BD/msicuu2.exe
| 2. After you install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, click Start
| menu-> All Programs-> Windows Install Clean Up.
| 3. Highlight Microsoft Office 2003 entry in the list and then click
Remove.
| Quit the Utility.
| 4. Rename the "Microsoft Office" folder as "Office Old" which is located
in
| the C:\Program Files.
| 5. Click Start menu-> Run, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks)
in
| the Open box and press Enter.
| 6. Locate the two registry keys below and click Delete from the Edit
menu.
| Click OK on the pop-up warning dialog box.
| HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
| HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
| 7. Click Start menu-> Run, type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) in
| the Open box and press Enter.
| 8. Empty the %Temp% folder. [Note: If you are unable to empty temp
folder,
| please come into Windows safe mode to empty the temp folder: restart
| computer and keep pressing F8 to come into Windows safe mode.]
| 9. Empty the Recycle Bin.
| 10. Restart your computer and then reinstall Office 2003. Check and
install
| updates for Office 2003.
|
| Test the issue. What is the result?
|
| If the issue persists after we completely uninstall/reinstall Office
2003,
| the issue is mostly caused by the third party software which affects the
| Office 2003 applications. We need to narrow down the issue and check the
| third party software on the computer.
|
| #2 check the Anti-virus program, PDF addin, Printers on the computer
| =================
| 1. Temporarily disable the Antivirus program for it scanning the Office
| documents and then test the issue. What is the result?
| 2. Go to Start menu > Printers and Faxes > delete all the Printers (???
| Keep the Office built-in printer - Microsoft Office Document Image
| Writer)to test the issue. What is the result?
| 3. Did you install any PDF addins in the Office 2003 application, such as
| Adobe PDF add-in? If so, disable the PDF addin and test the issue again.
|
| #3 come into Windows safe mode to test the issue
| ============
| Windows safe mode: All the third-party software and the unnecessary
| hardware driver (such as video card, network card¡) is disabled.
|
| 1. Restart your computer
| 2. Keep press F8, until the screen "Windows Advanced Options Menu"
appears.
| 3. Press "Up arrow" in the keyboard to select "Safe Mode", press "Enter"
|
| Is the Office 2003 application working fine under Windows safe mode?
|
| #4 Come into Windows Clean Boot Mode (Windows XP)
| =================================
| It will disable all third party software from loading at startup so that
we
| can narrow down if the issue is related to the third party software.
|
| 1. Click Start menu-> Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks)
in
| the Open box and press Enter.
| 2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup; click to clear the
| "Process System.ini File", "Process WIn.ini File", "Load System Services"
| and "Load Startup Items" check boxes. You cannot clear the "Use Original
| Boot.ini" radio button.
| Note: You can click the Normal Startup radio button to return to the
normal
| Windows Startup after the test.
|
| 3. Click the "Services" tab. Check "Hide all microsoft services", click
| disable all. If the "disable all" is not available, please just skip it.
| 4. Click the "Startup" tab, click "disable all". If the "disable all" is
| not available, please just skip it.
|
| 5. Click OK.
| 6. Restart the computer.
|
| Is the Office 2003 application working fine under Windows clean boot mode?
|
| Please perform the above steps and let me know the result. If anything is
| unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to
contact
| me.
|
| Sincerely,
|
| Emily Lin,
