My operating System is Windows XP. I want to purchase
Access for my computer, but I am confused on whether I
need Access 2002 or 2003 or is there a specific Access
version for XP. A step-by-step guide I found at Barnes &
Noble was for Access 2002 and it says on the front
cover "windows XP application".

Please give me some clarification.

thanks.

Either Access 2002 (aka Access XP) or Access 2003 will work just fine on a
Windows XP computer.

Access 2003, obviously, is the most recent product and may be easier to find
than Access 2002.

I'm running Access 2.0, 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 on my WindowsXP
machine. They all work fine.

Microsoft does a good job of confusing users by using similar
nomenclature for Operating System releases (Windows2000, WindowsXP)
and application software releases (Office 2000, Office XP). They are
in fact almost totally unrelated (though you can't, frex, run OfficeXP
under an old 16-bit operating system such as Windows 3.1).
