Microsoft Autoupdate.app

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Once again the update failed so I started through the exercise of moving the updater to the desktop to alter it. However, I moved the wrong file to the desktop (above). Which folder does this file live in so I can move it back?

Thank you.

You downloaded the file. Look in your downloads folder.

Thanks for the reply.
This is the autoupdater app. It was in a folder on my machine and I moved it. It's not the update itself.

It's not the update itself.

If you use the Apple Labels, you can label the folders to leave
"breadcrumbs" to find in the future.

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

It should be version 2.2.0.

Thank you. I moved it back. Can't see the version but it's Feb 2009
Do you have any suggestions to avoid the stalling of the update and the previously necessary deletion of lines from one of the files in the updater?

I cannot unlock "package_updatable" to modify it this time. Any suggestions?
Thank you

I think you will need to do the reinstall:

Follow these steps to reinstall:

* Launch the Microsoft Autoupdater (MAU).To launch MAU, you can open any
Office application and select "Check for Updates" under Help in the Menu
bar. Once MAU is launched, select "Keep in Dock"
* Quit all Microsoft applications (Easy way: log out/in with Shift key down
to disable any startup items.) Be sure all applications are quit before
running updater. IMPORTANT
* Drag the Microsoft Office 2008 folder to the Trash.
* Empty Trash.
* Reinstall Office 2008 from your original installation disk.
* Restart
* Update to 12.1.0 (if you have a newer DVD you might only need the 12.17)
* Restart (restarting before you launch any app is important!)
* Update to 12.1.7
* Restart

Verify after running the 12.1.0 updater that the MAU is at 2.2.0.

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0
