Microsoft.com sees Win Office 2000 as Office Mac

trying to run a check for updates on my WinXP computer
running Microsoft Office 2000 for Windows, and I get a
browser not supported error message or updates not
available for your installation of Office for Mac.

Can't open a net passport account to e-mail microsoft
support because microsoft.com thinks my WinXP running
Microsoft Internet Explorer v6 is a Mac.

Office for Mac??? Where the H-E-double-toothpicks does it
get the idea this Windows XP machine is a Mac???

I've seen worse.

I had an Ahead installation program explicitly tell me that I was not using
Win95/Win98/Win Me/Win NT/Win 2000/WinXP.
Nothing but Win 2000 on the system.
