Microsoft Customer Relations and sync services problem

I talked to a Microsoft Customer Relations manager and he advised me
that the Entourage team has no date on when they are going to get this
sync services problem in Entourage fixed. Further, I advised tech
support that the SP1 update did not resolve the most problematic sync
services issues. They are aware of that and are very frustrated as
they would love to have an answer for us. I received an email from
them stating:

Hello Kerry;

It was my pleasure to speaking with you on your Microsoft Entourage
2008 issue with sync services. We certainly understand your
frustration but unfortunately we are unable to give you a specific
date that they may have a fix for this issue or if they are fixing the
issue

So not only do they not have a time frame they don't even know if it
is being fixed as they are advised of nothing. I said that it seems
very strange that tech support would not be kept up to date on the
critical issue and she fully agreed. They themselves feel very
frustrated with the process. I also indicated I find it odd that this
could have gotten out the door in this shape without QA having not
caught it and once again she was in full agreement.

So who knows how long we'll have to work with it like this - for a few
months or forever.

Kerry,

Excellent info, very, very nice of MS to admit to the problems and also be honest with when it will be fixed.

They rarely issue dates for when a problem will be fixed. Sync Services is
an issue that involved Apple as well so giving a date is not something they
could do.

With the combination of SP1 and 10.5.3, a lot of problems did get fixed
though. I'm not seeing duplicates anymore for instance (adn it makes my
life a lot easier...)

Just joined the group and I'm hopeful I can find an answer. I'm sure
this has been discussed in many forms and posts, so I'm not exactly
sure where to post it. So, I'll start here and hope for the best

I'm looking at switching my office computer to a Mac from a PC, but
the one stumbling block is my BlackBerry. I tested my BB on a MacBook
Air (running Entourage 2008) and I encountered some synching problems;
specifically, email I sent using Entourage did not show up as sent
mail on my BlackBerry (it does when I use Outlook). the ISP I use to
host my Microsoft Exchange Server service said there was nothing that
could be done. This synching problem is a "known issue" and until a
patch is issued, no fix is available. But I've been doing some digging
and found some programs like PocketMac and I'm not sure if they fix
this problem or not. A number of posts I've read on different sites
only make me more confused. I appreciate any light you can shed on
whether this synching issue can be worked out.

I remember reading somethign about that (I don't have a blackberry
myself).

Are the messages marked as read on your OWA (webmail) page??
If yes, it's a server-side issue.
This synching problem is a "known issue" and until a
patch is issued, no fix is available.

The question is to figure out whether Entoruage needs a patch, or
Exchange...

I'm not sure it would. If I remember well, the point behind PocketMac
for blackberry is not to replace Exchange synching.

Well I really wanted to make sure that they are aware that the update
didn't resolve the issues and they are.

One further note. When your sync is completely out of whack, you might need
to reset everything. Get all your data into one source. Clean it up. Delete
all of your other sync sources. Then sync. You could be syncing old
problems.

How to reset Sync Services:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/syncservices.html#ss2>

Always backup first when deleting data.

No I always do that to get my Calendar module stable. I actually
figured out the workaround which I provided to MS tech support ages
ago.

Hi Mike!

If you're using Exchange with a Blackberry Server then, yes, this is a
known issue on Blackberry's part. They acknowledged it in a KB article
on their website when Exchange Server 2000 was in release.

Apparently, this hasn't been addressed further by them.

Hope this helps!
