I have Office 2003, I lost the printdrver for Microsoft Document Image
Writer, I really use this feature to print web documents. I uninstalled the
MDI program in Office 2003 nd then reinstalled it. Still missing. I then ran
the office repair, still missing. Any help wpould be appreciated. This went
missing around the time i installed Office SP2. It works fine on my laptop
with Office 2003 and sp2 installed.

1. Close all running applications. If you have any Office application running, the driver will not be installed properly.
2. Go to "Control Panel" and "Add or Remove Programs".
3. Click on "Microsoft Office 2003" and then click on "Change".
4. Check "Add or Remove Features" and click "Next".
5. On the bottom of the page check "Choose advanced customization of applications." and click "Next".
6. Under Microsoft Office click on the + sign in front of "Office Tools"
7. Locate the object "Microsoft Office Document Imaging", click the icon and select "Not Available".
8. Click on "Update". This will uninstall the MODI driver.
9. Repeat steps 1 to 6 to go back to the same location you were before.
10. Locate the object "Microsoft Office Document Imaging", click the icon and select "Run from My Computer".
11. Click on "Update".

Once this is complete, you can go to "Control Panel" and then to "Printers and Faxes", if you see a printer with the name of
"Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" then the MODI (Microsoft Office Document Imaging) is properly installed.

Same problem here only I can't un-install. I get an error messages that says
file not found SKU011.cab and it will not complete the uninstall. I really
like this applcation while it was working. Any idea on how to get the .cab
file?

I have found that when you install Office 2003 from a distribution
share on a server, computer, etc. When a user access the program, the
skuxx.cab file error, is not received. The program runs like it's
supposed to.

If you do not have access to do a distribution point, you can always
use the Office 2003 MSOCACHE tool. This program copies all the cab
files from the cd, to the local computer. The only downside to this is
that it has to be done on each machine. I haven't tried making an
image after the .cab files have been transferred.

Below is the knowledge base article about: When you try to start a
Microsoft Office 2003 program for the first time, you receive the
"Installation Error: File not Found" error message.

The article above tells you about the skuxx.cab error. It also refers

I followed these instructions below to the T three times, still don't get The
Image Writer listed in PRINTERS AND FAXES in Control Panel. Worst part is all
the documents in MY DOCUMENTS that I used to use Image Writer to open are now
not accessible. They open up scrambled. That's the biggest hit for me.

Me too!! If I do a system restore back a few days then I get it back but as
soon as my computer updates it vanishes again, so it must be one of the
automatic updates that is messing it up.

Please help......anyone?!?!?!

Dear PA, I finally managed to get it back. This is what I did, hope it works
for you. If it does, passit around.
Go to Control Panel
Go to Add/Remove Programs
Click on Microsoft Word Enterprise 2007
Click on CHANGE
Choose ADD/REMOVE
Cick on the + of Microsoft Office Tools
Click on the + on Image Writer
Click on NOT AVAILABLE
Then click CONTINUE in the lower right.
Let it configure
When it's done. do the first steps again till you get to IMAGE WRITER again.
Click the + again.
This time click INSTALLED AFTER 1st USE
Then click CONTINUE again
Let it configure again.
When it's done, do all the steps again,
This time under IMAGE WRITER, click RUN ALL FROM MY COMPUTER
Click CONTINUE again, let it configure.
When it's done, close it out, then go to CONTROL PANEL>PRINTERS AND
FAXES>and see if IMAGE WRITER IS LISTED, if it's there, you've done it. Like
I said, it worked for me, give it a try. Regards, Rocco
