Microsoft Error Reporting Window on Quitting Word

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard about half the times that I quit Word I get a Microsoft Error Reporting Window stating that "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have not yet been able to determine under what circumstances this does and does not occur. It's an odd message since Word has been working just fine up until I quit. It occurs when quitting from the menu, dock, keyboard, or by shutting down the computer.

Thanks for any help you can offer to correct this!

Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or
if it¹s your User¹s folder that contains the problem.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test quitting Word to
see if you get the error.

If it happens in the new User, do a re-install of Snow Leopard over itself.
It installs like a combo updater.

If the problem continues after the re-install of Snow Leopard, then remove
Office and re-install.

If the problems went away in the new User, then the culprit is in your
User's folder. Check this page for help with troubleshooting preferences,
cache files etc. Obviously you can ignore the parts about Entourage testing.
