Microsoft IME 2000

I need some info or somewhere I can research to figure out
how to turn this program off. It runs apparently "with"
Office? Either way I dont know a bit of Japanese and can't
for the life of me come to a way to remove this program so
I can get back to a Windows I can read in english.

The IME is only present if you've specifically enabled East Asian editing in
Office and Windows.

The Office Language setting tool may help, but also go to Control Panel,
Regional Settings. On the Languages tab, disable East Asian language input.

For more accurate help, knowing the Word/Windows versions helps.

I have Windows 98 SE and Office 2000 Was installed. I must
say as well I have never used this program, this system
was already set up like this when I recieved it. Thank you

My operating system is Windows 98 SE and Office 2000 was
installed but truthfully the system I have was already set
up when I recieved I and I have no experience with IME
whatsover. Thank you for your time.

I'm running Windows 98 SE, I recieved this computer
already set for Japanese so I'm really lost as to this
whole programs working. In short I know little about IME.

Check Control Panel > Add/Remove programs to see if the IME is listed there.
Also check the Office Language Setting Tool under Start > Programs > Office
Tools

I don't have any foreign language selected in the Control Panel and nothing shows in the Office folder. However, I have the icon "EN" on my taskbar and cannot remove it. English is the language selected but I do not want this icon on my taskbar. How can I get rid of it?

Right click on it > Close the Language bar

Although "close the language bar" is shown as active it does nothing. The only visual thing I see from this is the "EN" icon on the taskbar. I can open the box which shows English selected for the keyboard but that's about all it does. The icon is annoying and I want to remove it.
