Microsoft Newserver Not Displaying

M

Marc Harmon

I have a news account setup to:

msnews.microsoft.com

I used to see a full list of newsgroups when I would click on this.
Now I see a few characters or symbols a few words, like "spelling" but no
newsgroups. If I double click any of these I get an error or a message that
no newsgroup was specified.

If I make a new account with the same address above, I get a similar
variation.

Is there another Microsoft newsgroup address I could try?
I assume if the above address is working for you, then there is some sort of
misinformation being conveyed in my set-up. If I was in Safari I would
delete all cache. Is there such a thing for Entourage and would it matter?

My other newsgroups display properly, post and retrieve properly. I had the
Entourage group setup prior and it sends and retrieves fine, I just can't
get a current list of newsgroups on Microsoft.

What are the possible complications?

Thanks
Marc

Create a new Identity in Entourage. Under Entourage in the Menu bar, select
Switch Identity and click on New. See if the newsgroups show in the new
Identity. If yes, then it could be a corrupt database that is causing the
problem. If no, then see the steps here to troubleshoot:

Go to View > Receive Complete Newsgroup List, and see if that helps. If it
doesn't, you may need to delete the "Newsgroup Cache" located in
/Users/<Your User>/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/.
In that case you may lose the newsgroup cache.
