Microsoft office 2003 document imaging will not scan

I cannot get my microsoft office 2003 document imaging or scanning to scan.
When I select scan, it always says my Dell AIO center is already open,
please close it. I do, then when I try to scan, the scan box just says
waiting for scan from scanner. Help!!! Thanks. Lucy999
