Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.2.1 Update

This update fixes a synchronization issue in versions of Microsoft Entourage
that have been updated with Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Service Pack 2
(11.2.0). The issue might cause data loss when Entourage attempts to
synchronize with an Exchange mailbox that was moved to a different server
running Microsoft Exchange Server. This update also resolves issues with
setting Exchange server permissions and printing calendars. We strongly
recommend that all Entourage users who have installed Office 2004 Service
Pack 2 (11.2.0) install this update.

Applies to: Microsoft Office 2004 Standard Edition, Office 2004 Student and
Teacher Edition, Office 2004 Professional Edition, Entourage 2004.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Thanks a million for the news (and the patch) Rebecca. I hope the
international versions will also be released soon.

Unfortunately for us, the printing calendars bug is still there with
this update. We print from a shared project calendar. When attempting
to print, or even switch to list view in the print dialog box,
Entourage still crashes.

Unfortunately this does not fix the projects color dot bug.

Hi Malcolm,
If you do not switch to list view in the print dialog box, are you able to
print weekly calendar from your shared project?

Thank you for your information.

Any chance this fix corrects the corrupted attachment problem with OS X
10.4?

Damn! This was one of the first conflicts reported. Why couldn't MS fix
this one? Now we have to wait for Update 11.2.2!!!!

The cause of the projects color dot problem is the Apple Security Update
released about that time, and the problem occurs to people who haven't
installed Office 2004 SP2. That it appeared to be an SP2 conflict was just a
coincidence of timing.

This has been confirmed over and over again on the Entourage newsgroup, if
you check the archives.

I know that. I assumed that Microsoft was going to fix the conflict
with the Security Update, not Apple, since regardless of what Apple
did, the problem (though not the cause) lies with Microsoft.

Malcolm and others suffering from the print bug crash. Please try going
to File=Page Setup FIRST. Click OK and then print. I did this and had
no crashing whatsoever. In fact, I saved as PDF--which was also
impossible before the new update.

I¹ve seen quite a few posts that were poiting towards Apple¹s last security
update as the main reason for the loss of the coloured project dots...?

Don't know that this has been established, though it seems likely.

If MS calls system routines to draw the screen that are broken by
Apple's Security Update, I'm not sure how Microsoft could fix it without
risking subsequent breakage if/when Apple fixes the update.

Did you want Microsoft to fix the similar display glitches in Filemaker and
Snapz Pro that have been reported with the security update as well?

An interesting concept of responsibility. Apple breaks it, so Microsoft
should - or even CAN - fix it? How do you know/think they can do that?

No, any attempt to print it causes a crash. We do use all day events.
The strange thing is that this crashing on print behavior has never
occurred on the one other system that has Office 2004 SP2 installed,
both with 11.2.0 and 11.2.1. This other system is not using the shared
project, but I tested printing an exchange user calendar with all day
events and it works fine. So for us it's not reproducable on more than
one system.

I applied a previous update and almost lost it when all of the contacts and
calendar data disappeared! I found out later they had been moved to some
new folders under the Exchange folder. I re-installed the original version.
Is this update going to do the same thing? I find it very cumbersome to
have contacts and calendars in two places.
