Microsoft Office 2004 installation

Running OSX 10.3.5 with all the latest updates on a 2GHz Dual processor
G5.
Installing Office 2004 to update Office 2003.
The installation stops after agreeing to licence and goes back to
original CD window.
Same problem when I drag and drop the application.

As in all cases of upgrading an existing application, I would uninstall
the old one first.

We haven't needed to uninstal on any of the other computers.
However, if it works that's fine.
I'll try it.

Well, you shouldn't need to. It should install side by side, and is not
"updating" at all. You don't have Office 2003 either, cause that's a
windows version.

Is this an upgrade version? Were you given the chance to find the earlier
qualifying version? Did you repair permissions first? Were you logged in as
administrator when you tried to install?

But OS 10.3.5 doesn't have all the latest updates, because Panther is at
10.3.9.

OK. Whatever it is - I bought it in 2003.
It's an upgrade and we weren't given the chance to fined the earlier
version.
We didn't repair permissions first but have tried that and it made no
difference.
Yes, we were logged in as an administrator.
I have updated 10.3.5 to its latest updates (security updates etc)
without going to 10.3.9.
?
We have installed numerous other machines, G4s and G5s without problem.

The only other thing I can speculate on is that perhaps you entered a
license number that was already in use on a networked computer, and so it
quit because that might be an illegal installation. You could try
installing it disconnected from the network.

I think for installation support it's free to call MS, check the product
booklet.

I'm out of ideas, anyhow--perhaps someone else will come along or the
archives will turn something up a similar problem with a posted fix.
