Microsoft Office 2007 beta (Beware you must uninstall after it expires)

C

Colonlaw

Well, for the hell of it I set my computer clock passed 2007 and when I
opened Word 2007 it stated that it expired and must install. What
happened to limited functionality as microsoft clims will happen when
Microsoft Office expires in 2007? Making you uninstall it is NOT
limited finctionality. I smell a lawsuit in 2007.

Are you another of those Open Source trouble makers? or just a trouble maker?
MS is TRYING to change their ways and what do you give? -crp to MS But then
again, you use AOL. Probably use Google and Yahoo alot also who have
questionable practices in China and other places and are of questionable
values like AOL. Lawsuit-Get real dope

Um, what about BETA don't you understand? Or have you not passed the third
grade reading test yet, after all these years?

Lawsuit, yeah, that'll fly!!

Why are you guys so angry? All I am trying to say is that MS states,

"All 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 software has an expiration
date of February 1, 2007. After expiration, 2007 Microsoft Office
system Beta 2 will continue to work in a reduced functionality mode
that limits your options and operations"

However, if you forward your computer clock to 2007 you will find out
that it has NO functionality and you must uninstall it. They should
just say that and not use "limted functionality". If they don't then
they might get sued because of misrepresentation.

Get a grip.

There is nothing saying that "Reduced Functionality" CANNOT mean none. It

I take it you were able to still launch the program then that means the

The point you are trying to make is the reason they put "Not for Oral Use"

Paul, your analogy is ridiculous.

When 2007 comes around and everyone is forced to unistall it what do

BETA would still work with limited functionality. Unistalling the
program is not limted. Why can't you guys get this simple argument. I
am not even saying that MS should not have released the beta. They
should just change their terms of use.

I think you're going to have to wait until 2007 to see what happens.

The program is functioning now, and it may continue to function in 2007.
If you say "Judge, I set my computer clock ahead, and it stopped
working," the judge is going to say, "Why on earth did you do that, you
blithering idiot?"
Paul, your analogy is ridiculous.

What he made was not an analogy, and he is correct that it is for people
like you that such warnings were designed and implemented.
When 2007 comes around and everyone is forced to unistall it what do

Why don't you just wait six months and see what happens.

And for god's sake, stop top-posting.

It means you can open the programs and read what you had produced with it
during the beta period. It means that you cannot use it to produce any new
documents or products.

There, happy now?

If that is true, then there should be no problems. I just don't see
how you can "read what you produced during the beta period" if MS
forces you to unistall the Beta program. Maybe they will correct this
by 2007.

Guys and Gals, I am on your side. I just made an observation. If they
correct it by 2007 that is great. If they don't they might find
themselves in hot water. I love that they gave it to us to try for
awhile. Why all the hostility? Life is too short, relax.

I don't need the work. If MS doesn't fix the problem they are just
exposing themself.

8 months with a working version of Office 2007 for free is pretty amazing in
my opinion. A very LONG beta / trial period. Any reasonable person would
just buy the software when that period expires if they like it and want to
continue using it.

I'd pay for it now if I could.
