Here is the challenge lets see who is first with the correct solution.

Up installing cd into in tray in d drive the initial dialog box with Icon
appears then;

Setup Error indicates: Setup cannot continue because a required file is
either corrupt or not avaliable. Run Setup again from the original source
disc or download location.

Attempts so far:
Retry and then retried and then retired again.
Reinstalled Operating system twice
Ran Mircosoft update
Asked a friend who mentioned to download SP2 but hotfix installer wouldn't
open it.(SP3 is already installed ..Doh!)

Tried installing Office 2007 on friends computer it worked (.)(.)

Question 1: What file is required? (corrupt or missing)

Question 2: How do I install, get, download and heaven forbid purchase to
fix this situation.

Question 3: Why me? Do not answer that :)

This is mission critical for me so any advice would greatly be apreciated.

"heaven forbid purchase" ?
are you installing a trial version from cd/dvd?
If so where did it come from?

This is not a trial version. And I have spent lots to analyse this problem
including my valuable time. It seams that the computer that i use is the one
not playing the game and not the software as I have tested the setup
installaiton at another location and it works fine so go figure. I have
purchased software to check registry and etc... But the problem remains I
have also used the trouble shooter provided by microsoft updater and still
duh! This is a carreer I have the uclers to provide IT!

So Mircosoft telephone support not open on Week ends glup! Sorry it's just
getting very sad. Sunshine, daylight what is that ? I did have a life now I
am doomed to the desktop staring into a screen of radiation. OOps sorry got
carried away (.)(.)
-- I want my life back Boo hoo... Well a day in the life of my experince
with it. So Where we now the current situation is as follows:

The software disc with Microsoft Office 2007 is fine its the computer that
has a required file corrupt, missing or unobtainable God knows what that is
because I don't and there was not a error code.

Please feel free to comment if your dare. ,,,(.) (.),,,
Never give up!

PS I did note that the other computer had KB's and Q's in its widowns folder
in "C" drive but my computer has no Q's at all mm....... maybe a clue perhaps?

Just a thought - is your CD/DVD drive OK? Does it read other CDs/DVDs OK?
Have you tried cleaning the CD? (Toothpaste is good...I kid you not!)

Hi Gordon

The CD/DVD drive works fine to my knowledge I just installed ADOBE ACROBAT
PROFESSIONAL and it installed ok.

Toothpaste maybe later :) I have washed cds in luke warm soapy water before
with success and any brand of toothpaste? ha hahha oops just kidding.

-- You ask: Please tell us the version of the application you are asking
about,
OS Windows , Service Pack level SP3
The FULL contents of any error message(s) is as follows:

Set up Error
__________________________________________________________________
Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not
available.
Run Set up again from the original source disc or download location.

It's Mircosoft Office 2007 on disc and it works fine on another computer
that has the same system profile as above. It allow me to input the serial
number but this one drops out before hand.

Thankyou for your consideration I would be interested learning what you think.

Any way thanks for your good intentions.
