I'm not sure what you mean. If you are asking whether or not you can
install Office 97 on Windows XP then Office 97 will run on Windows XP.

Office suite products (excel, access, etc.) must have been
deleted when I upgraded to XP professional. I need to
keep the 97 version for business reasons. I have
Microsoft Office 97 Retail and Pro full OEM and want to
reinstall one of them, but I am not sure which version
should be used with XP professional

It shouldn't matter, provided the OEM version is installed on the same
computer it was originally installed on since the license is not
transferable.

Microsoft recommends you install the oldest to newest, however I
installed Office 97 after Office XP and encountered an expected
"Invalid License" error for Access. Here's a KB article that covers
what you need to do should you need it:

Beth, I'd like to make certain I understand your answer in this thread: I
have just purchased a new Dell with XP Home. I "downgraded my oder" to MS
Worksuite because I hoped to find the newer Office suite at a lower price
than Dell charged. However, I have MS Office 97 Pro and MS Publisher 97 that
I used on my now defunct laptop that went to the trash-heap. I'm happy to
just keep using those earlier versions of Office and Publisher -- will they
work with XP Home? Thanks for your help. Jeanne
