Microsoft Office and Works

I've been using Microsoft Office 2000 for
some time and it does what I need it to do.

However, I recently got a new PC with Microsoft
Works on it. I was wondering what is this
application(s) for? It seems to perform
alot of the functions Office does but where
is Microsoft positioning this product?
