Microsoft Office Button (2007)

Hi Everyone,

The Beta and Beta 2 (BT2) releases of Microsoft Office 2007 products had
Microsoft Office Button (top left corner). Has it been renamed to Office
Button (without the word 'Microsoft') in the Beta 2 Technical Release
(B2TR)? The tooltip says so. Is this rechristening deliberate or just an
overlook that will be corrected when the Office products are actually
launched in the market?

No one here has seen any later build of Office 2007 than B2TR. So we
have no idea what it will be called in the RTM version. AFAIK, it has
been called Office Button all along, or at least everyone referred to it
as such (without the prefix Microsoft). I personally would consider the
prefix of Microsoft to be unnecessary.

Thanks Patrick,

I agree that the prefix 'Microsoft' is unnecessary. But the tooltips (when
the pointer hovers on the button) in Beta 1 and Beta 2 say 'Microsoft Office
Button' unlike in B2TR where the tooltip says 'Office Button'. Also, all the
supporting documentation, including the Help files (B1, B2, & B2TR) and the
demo animations on the Microsoft Web site refer to the button as 'Microsoft
Office Button'. So, only the B2TR tooltip referes to the button as the
'Office Button'. Any thoughts/confirmations?

Vikram

Hi Vikram,

In the 2007 Office release product help files and tutorials at http://office.microsoft.com/help it's called the "Microsoft Office
Button".

Are you certain you are seeing this in B1 and B2?? I'm fairly certain
that prior to B2TR the screen tip read "File Menu" in most, if not
all, of the Office applications. What application are you using to
display the screen tip?

In any case, officially it's called the "Microsoft Office Button". How
it reads in the screen tip is simply a matter of space. :)
