Microsoft Office Corruption? Problems all at once with Excel/Word

As a preface, I had just today uninstalled Norton
Antivirus. I only put that in there because I do not know
what effect it may have had. Anyways, now whenever I try
to open a Word document it says "The file (insert file
name) is not available." Whenever I try to open an excel
file it says "Unable to read file." I had also just
updated with the latest security patch and have added all
the office updates that are currently available. I am at
a loss as to what has happened. ANY and ALL
help/tips/suggestions/prayers are helpful and appreciated.

If Norton AntiVirus' Office plugin was enabled, you may need to
reinstall NAV, disable the plugin, then uninstall it again.

Were any Norton files left behind after you uninstalled NAV?
