Microsoft Office Disappears

E

ed v

I've had the weirdest thing happen. All my Office apps disappeared
from my mac. I found 3 copies of each program in the Trash but the
MS Office folder is gone and when I try to start the programs, I get an
error that they are missing shared files. No one has been on my mac to
delete these files. Are there any known viruses that would do this?

What's really weird is that I was using the MS Office programs just fine
but when I closed them, they disppeared...

HELP!

Thanks

I have the educational version that I downloaded from the University I
teach at. 5 times now the apps have dissappeared from the office 2004
folder. My dock shortcuts have question marks on them and I have to
reinstall office.

What's going on?

hard to know, but I can't think it could be anything to do with Office
itself.

When do the apps disappear - at startup? randomly? Have you checked your
Startup Items for anything out of the ordinary?

Are you sure that nobody's playing a prank on you?

Apparently it happens during my weekly system backup. I use deja vu
(http://www.propagandaprod.com) to backup my system volume once a
week. It uses psync on the backend.

It should be non-destructive to the source volume, and all of my other
apps copy fine, except for office!

I've posted on their forum to see if they know the cause!
