"microsoft office document imaging" documents?

Is there a program available for Mac that can
read "microsoft office document imaging" documents?
I have a number of email attachements sent to me
with "filename.mdi" that I need to open
Can they be opened on a Mac running OS X?

I'm completely brainstorming, and hopefully someone will come along with
more authoritative information, but...MDI is (I think) created by a feature
in newer versions of windows (MS Document Image Writer?), and seems parallel
to PDF, so I would try opening them with Preview, Acrobat Reader, or
PictureViewer, conceivably even Photoshop. Let us know what, if anything,
works.

Also note that the MS web interface messes up and sometimes gives incorrect
error messages. Your message got posted 4 times. Other ways to access:

Tried acrobat photoshop illustrator & preview
Does not seem to be any way to open mdi - microsoft office
document image files.

Does any one know of a program that can read this type of file?
I believe that this is a new microsoft version of a pdf file.

The MS site apparently says it isn't meant to be compatible with anything
else, even the 2003 version seems not to work with the 2002 version. Tell
your correspondents to save the files as TIFFs and resend them, or to use
one of the freeware PDF creators that are out there.
