Microsoft Office Document Imaging no longer in printers folder

My Microsoft Office Document Imaging has recently disappeared from my
printers folder. I have tried removing MODI and reinstalling it. That did
not work. I completely removed Microsoft Office from my computer and then
installed it again. That did not work either. The MODI is still not in my
printers folder. I am running XP Professional and Microsoft Office XP
Professional.
Please Help!

The MODI printer driver feature is not available in Office XP (it
was first introduced in Office 2003), so it could not have
"recently disappeared".

This is interesting. I have had MODI as a print option since I have had this
computer (July, 2005). Microsoft Office was on my computer as a trial
version. Stupidly, I installed Office Professional XP without first removing
the trial Office version.
I just recently removed the trial version, and now I wonder if this is the
reason the MODI "disappeared" from my printers folder. But, if this is the
case, why was I able to use MODI for over a year with the 30 day trial (which
I never activated). Is there anyway to get it back??

The 30 day trial period only applies to mainstream Office Packages such
as Word, Excel etc etc. It does not apply to Document Image Writer.
You can get it back if you reinstall the trial version - which wil not
normally work because you have remnants of previous installations but it
should install the Image Writer. Make sure you select to keep the old
version as well so that XP Professional remains working.

Thanks for the info. The trial version may be gone. I have run ccleaner,
eraser, and defrag since deleting it.
Under Programs, Microsoft Office, there is an option to re-install Microsoft
Works and Microsoft Office. Will this do the trick?
And maybe before I try this, how does Paperport compare with MODI? I seem
to like MODI better.

Dear Anonymous,
Thank you. I went into Programs - Microsoft Office (not Office
Professional) and clicked on the only option "re-install Microsoft Works and
Microsoft Office". The total install process took a little time. There was
no option about keeping my "old" office. After the install, I checked my
printers folder and the MODI driver was back. I have not tried to open any
Office Documents yet because I wanted to get further advice on how to not
have the trial version open when I attempt to open an Office document. This
use to happen to me from time to time and is the reason why I uninstalled the
trial version in the first place.

ps...Office Professional appears to be off my computer now. I will need to
re-install Office Professional XP from the disk and need advice as to the
best way to keep the trial version from disrupting things.

ok...I went into Add/Remove programs and Office XP Professional is in there.
Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook all have an "X" (not activated). What
should I deactivate in the trial office (add/remove, change) prior to
activating the above mentioned so I can have the 2003 goodies without the
trial version headaches?

I am leaving this to help anyone else with this problem (I have seen it on
many threads) . I went into add/remove the trial Business Office 2003 and
clicked change. I removed the "X" on the first page for all the options
(word, excel, publisher, etc) and clicked the bottom box for "choose advanced
cusomization of applications" and clicked next. Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint,
Publisher, and Word should all have an "X" next to them. I then clicked
update.
Afterward, I went into add/remove for my Office 2002 and clicked "run all
from my computer" for Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.
So far so good. I have Microsoft Office Document Imaging back in my
printers folder and my 2002 office appears to be working correctly.
