Microsoft Office Document Scanning 2003 - Multipage Scanning Problems

T

Trey Thompson

Hi!

I've used Microsoft Office XP Professional for a couple
of years, and my business and my clients have really
become tied to the Document Imaging products in Office.
They're GREAT!

Well, I'm a registered partner, and I got full versions
of Office Professional 2003. So, after upgrading, I was
excited to see what the new features were related to
Document Scanning. Now, the multipage scanning doesn't
seem to work.

When I scan a 3 page document, for example, it scans the
1st page, then just pulls the last two pages through
without scanning them, and gives me a 4 page tif file.
The 1st page is OK, then the last 3 pages are all blank.

I submitted a case to Microsoft, and they said, "I am
sorry to hear that the issue persists on your side. Since
the issue is rather complex and I am in the process of
ordering a scanner. I will look into the issue further
and will get back to you as soon as possible. "

Oh yeah, I've got an HP Officejet d145, bought it 1 year
ago.

So, my long winded question is this...

Uhhh, any ideas? :)

Me email address is trey at treythompson put the dot here
com. But, I'll check this group for a while.

Thanks!

I would look for a driver update for the scanner first - and certainly just
test multi-page scanning with the software bundled with the scanner.

Thanks Mike!

I've got the most current driver from HP.
If I use the scanning that HP provides, it all works.
But, I don't like the interface, and I'd much prefer the
MS solution... :)

Sorry not much more I can suggest as I don't have an automatic-feed scanner
to test against.

Thanks for the help, Mike! Is there a place that
Microsoft lists known, compatible scanners for Document
Scanning? I'm just going to buy a new one, and use this
one for another project.

No. About the only Microsoft option I can think of is for you to register
the problem with product support. Your lone report on this newsgroup won't
have much impact.

Thank you so much, Mike!

One last thing...

I'm the type of businessman that's just going to buy a
new printer combo that will work so that I can move on
down the road.

Any suggestions?

I'm thinking of the HP OfficeJet 7110 or 7130 since I've
liked the OfficeJet s145 so much (until this problem).

Do you think they'd be OK since they're newer models?
Should I contact HP and ask them?

Thanks again!

Trey

OK, bought the 7130, and have the same freaking problem.

I've submitted an issue to Microsoft, and they're not
really helping. I can tell that I'm getting overseas
support...

Any thoughts on what I can do next?

Sadly nothing else comes to mind. If you get a chance to try one of your
scanners on another PC with Office 2003 that might help to confirm whether
it's a local issue or a consistent issue with Office or the driver.
