Microsoft office error

I work with various design and video/dvd programs. Recently, I keep
getting the following message when I try to open any office programs

"PowerPoint" could not be launched because of a shared library error:
"J<Microsoft
PowerPoint><Apple;Carbon;Multimedia><CFMPriv_DVComponentGlue><>"

The only variation is the office program name. Perhaps tied to this is
that there are some text elements that I can't run on Final Cut Pro. I
have restarted the computer and even repaired disk permissions in the
disk utility. Does anyone know what to do or what the problem might be?
