Purchased a new Mac Mini and decided to invest in Microsoft Office
2008. OS is X10.5.5. (Leopard). On an Excel Worksheet, when I type
a figure in a cell, I cannot see that figure in the cell, but only on
the formula bar, until I hit "enter". If there is already a figure in
that cell, it does not change until I hit "enter". I choose not to
edit in the cell because if I do that, when I double-click, I get the
formula for that cell instead of the link to which it is attached.
Since I have many diverse links to various workbooks, it is more
useful for me to double-click to see the linking sheet. In the older
version of Excel (2006), I was able to see what I was typing in the
cell, BEFORE I hit enter. Is there a preference that I am missing, or
did Microsoft change their preferences? Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
