MicroSoft Office - I'm Screwed...!!!!!

Jim

A week ago, my computer did some screwy things and then
just went dumb...black screen and a message that
said, "Invalid disk in drive. Insert valid disk in drive
and press any key." ( ...or something like that )

Over the next few days I managed to get MS DOS going, in
spite of the fact that my original and back-up boot disks
would not work. Then I discovered through DOS that my
Windows Me directory was blank...nothing there. I have
an eMachine that came with "Works", which I upgraded to
Office 2000. Since I could not get Me to load up, I went
and got Windows XP. I have XP on my machine now, and
it's great, but I cannot reload Office 2000, because the
machine doesn't have either Office 2000 or "Works" there
to recognize my right to load Office 2000.

Looks like I'm screwed. Now I have to spend $600 to get
Office 2003 XP, but I'm not even sure I will be able to
load that.

What do I do now...?????

Looks like you'll have to re-format your hard drive and install everything.
Hope you have all the required CD's etc.

Sounds like format C: /s/u is in order.

Once you load Windows XP, use your upgrade Office 2000 CD to install Office.
When it requires a qualifying product, "show" it the Works CD and it should
install fine.
